Changes in the issuance of work permits for foreigners: What you need to know about the new measures of the Ministry of Interior
The Ministry of Interior (MIA) of Croatia has introduced a number of changes that significantly affect the issuance of work permits for foreigners.
The process of obtaining work permits is within the competence of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia and depending on the company headquarters or the planned place of residence of the worker, you can expect a work permit within 15 days but it is possible that this process takes up to 120 days. Agency has very little control of the duration.
Given the amount of employment requirements for foreign workers that increases every year and added pressure on the government officials, our recommendation is to plan hiring between 9 and 12 months before you have a real need for a foreign worker.
For nationals of third countries such as the Philippines, Nepal and India, not only a work permit is sufficient for their arrival, but it is necessary to obtain an entry visa. Depending on where the workers come from, the process of obtaining a visa to enter the Republic of Croatia can take up to 90 days.
